열대 폭풍 노라 소멸, 1명 사망 7명 실종

열대성 폭풍 노라는 멕시코 태평양 연안에 홍수와 산사태를 일으키고 푸에르타 발라르타에 대혼란을 일으켰으며 최소 1명이 사망하고 7명이 실종됐다. 허리케인으로 인해 캘리포니아만 일대는 폭우가 내리고 있다.

노라는 마자틀란 휴양지로부터 내륙으로 잠시 육로를 통과했다가 다시 바다 위로 이동하여 좁은 만으로 진입한 후 일요일 정오에 1등급 허리케인으로 약화됐다. 일요일 늦은 시간까지 열대성 폭풍이 거의 발생하지 않았지만, 기상 예보관들은 호우가 여전히 걸프만 지역에 위험을 야기하고 있다고 경고했다. 

Tropical Storm Nora fading, after leaving 1 dead, 7 missing

Tropical Storm Nora is dropping heavy rains along the Gulf of California after weakening from a hurricane that set off floods and landslides on Mexico’s Pacific coast, caused havoc in Puerta Vallarta and left at least one dead and seven missing.

Nora weakened from a Category 1 hurricane at midday Sunday after making a brief land passage just inland from the Mazatlan resort area and then moving back over water and entering the narrow gulf. Though it was barely a tropical storm by late Sunday, forecasters warned that its heavy rains still posed a danger for areas along the gulf.
