리투아니아, 벨라루스에서 건너온 난민들 돌려보내

리투아니아는 이웃 국가 벨라루스에서 들어오는 이라크인과 그 밖의 난민들이 주요 외교 정책으로 부상함에 따라 필요하다면 강제로 발트해 국가로 진입하려는 난민들을 돌려보낼 것을 명령했다.

리투아니아는 지난 몇 달간 난민들의 유입이 항공기 납치 사건으로 인해 유럽연합이 제재를 강화한 것에 대한 벨라루스 독재자 알렉산더 루카셴코 대통령의 보복 행위라고 간주했다. 내무부는 대규모의 난민들이 벨라루스 국경 수비대 소속 차량에 의해 리투아니아 EU 국경까지 호송되고 있다는 증거로 헬기에서 촬영한 영상을 배포했다. 

Lithuania to turn migrants crossing in from Belarus away 

Lithuania has ordered its border guards to turn away, by force if needed, migrants attempting to enter the Baltic country, as a surge of Iraqis and others coming in from neighboring Belarus has emerged as a major foreign policy issue.

Lithuania says the migrant influx in the past months is an act of retaliation by Belarus’ authoritarian President Alexander Lukashenko to increased sanctions by the European Union toward his country over an air piracy incident. The Interior Ministry distributed a video shot from a helicopter as a proof that large groups of immigrants were being escorted to Lithuania’s EU border by vehicles belonging to Belarus border guards.
