Germany prepares way for its troops to stay in Afghanistan

The German government is preparing the way for the country’s troops in Afghanistan — the second-biggest contingent in a NATO force — to stay in place until next year if needed.

Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Cabinet on Wednesday approved a new draft mandate that would enable German troops to stay until Jan. 31, government spokesman Steffen Seibert said.

독일군, 아프가니스탄에 파병 준비

독일 정부는 나토군 중 두 번째로 큰 아프간 파병 부대를 필요하다면 내년까지 주둔할 수 있도록 준비 중이다.

스테펜 세이베르 정부 대변인은 앙겔라 메르켈 총리 내각이 1월 31일까지 독일군이 주둔할 수 있도록 하는 새로운 권한 초안을 승인했다고 수요일 밝혔다.
