Belarus admits Russia’s war ‘drags on’

Belarus’ authoritarian President Alexander Lukashenko defended Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in an interview Thursday with The Associated Press, but he said he didn’t expect the 10-week-old conflict to “drag on this way.”

He also spoke out against the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine but wouldn’t say if Russian President Vladimir Putin had plans to launch such a strike.

알렉산드르 루카셴코 벨라루스 대통령은 목요일 AP통신과의 인터뷰에서 러시아의 우크라이나 침공을 옹호했지만 전쟁이 10주 넘게 지속될 것을 예상하지 못했다고 말했다. 

그는 또한 우크라이나에서의 핵무기 사용에 반대하는 목소리를 냈지만 블라디미르 푸틴 러시아 대통령이 그러한 공격을 할 계획이 있는지 여부에 대해서는 말하지 않았다. /박경민 기자(번역)
