굶주림 위기에 직면한 아프간 국민들, 탈레반에 '도전' 가중

유엔 고위 관리는 아프가니스탄의 식량 공급이 이달 중 바닥날 수도 있다고 수요일 경고했다. 아프가니스탄의 새로운 탈레반 통치자들이 수 십 년간의 전쟁 끝에 안정을 되찾기 위해 노력하고 있는 어려움에 기아 위기를 더할 것이라고 위협했다.

Afghans face hunger crisis, adding to Taliban’s challenges

Food in Afghanistan could run out this month, a senior U.N. official warned Wednesday, threatening to add a hunger crisis to the challenges facing the country’s new Taliban rulers as they endeavor to restore stability after decades of war.

About one third of the country’s population of 38 million is facing “emergency” or “crisis” levels of food insecurity, according to Ramiz Alakbarov, the local U.N. humanitarian coordinator. With winter coming and a severe drought ongoing, more money is needed to feed the population, he said.
